Hi my lovely bloggers! How was your very happy happy Thanksgiving day? I hope it was filled with lots of love and yummy food :~) I know a post on this blog was probably long overdue, but I was busy working on the blog and it's whole new look! What do you guys think of it? Would love your feedback!

Today, I woke up early in the morning and my mom, cousin, and I went to a church down in Tustin and volunteered to package meals for the less fortunate! I've never done anything like that, and I must say that the experience was great. I was surrounded by a few friends in Key Club from school as well. Doing this made me feel even more thankful and happy to help people. After volunteering, I stopped by my uncle's house to visit him and took a nap there as well. It was very well needed hehe... We went to go pick up food for dinner later on and when we finally got home, I had to do some of my APUSH project (I know... what a wild life I live on a Thanksgiving day...). It wasn't until around 7:30 pm when my family started to arrive, and now here I am recapping my day!

There are so many things in life that I'm so blessed with/ thankful for, but these are just a few that I can name  on the top of head right now (brace yourself for the high-quality iPhone pictures..):

I'm thankful for what all of nature has to offer.

 I'm thankful for being able to live in a community where there is so much opportunity.

 I'm thankful for everything that my parents have sacrificed in order for my brother and I to live a good life.

 I'm thankful for our brave soldiers who sacrifice their lives everyday to protect us.

 I'm thankful for a world filled with art and music.

 Even though I complain about it sometimes (maybe all the time), I am thankful for having the opportunity to have an education.

 I'm also thankful for the very few teachers I've had in the past who have actually taught me life-lessons and helped shape me into the person I am today.

 I'm beyond beyond thankful to have such a great support-system from my friends and family. They keep me pushing in all aspects of life, and I would honestly be lost without them.
(Hence, most of the pictures in this post are of them...)

Last, but certainly not least, I'm thankful to be able to share my life with you through this diary/inspo/style blog.

To me, I think today is a day that you should forget all about your worries and desires and just be thankful and grateful for what you do have because there are people who are less fortunate and don't have the same blessings that you have.  I think we should be thankful everyday, really. So I guess today is a day to remind yourself to acknowledge it, am I right? I also believe that family is top priority, so on holidays like this, I could only think about spending as much time as I can with them. Friends come and go, but I know my family will always be here for me, and hopefully, yours for you as well.

I'm wondering, what or who are you guys thankful for? Would love to know! I hope you guys had a wonderful day/evening and don't forget to be thankful everyday! I just want to say I'm thankful for you lovely readers and happy blogging! Xo, Vanessa.

Hiyaaaaa! Firstly, sorry I said that I might have another post up during the weekend (I kind of got tired..and lazy...hehe). But I was working on something else for you! I made a tumblr as place to be able to interact with you more and answer any of your guys' questions whether it be fashion/life based or want some tips/advice/words of encouragement.

My main reason for making this blog is to not only show what I'm all about and express myself through various posts, but also to inspire people and help people and I think that having a relationship with you and being able to talk to you is important!

*** So go on and shoot me some questions at http://allthingsvanessa-qs.tumblr.com ***
(Link will also be in the sidebar under "Questions? Message me--")
I also realized I haven't talked about myself that much on here and you don't really know me, so I posted an introduction/ FAQ on there!

Hope you guys had a relatively alright Monday (they're the worst in my opinion, but you gotta make the best of it, right?)! Goodnight (or Good morning, wherever you're reading this from :~)), sleep dreams, and happy blogging, loves!
Xo, Vanessa.

how to: layering

Hello loves! How are you on this beautiful Thursday night? I'm really happy this week (mostly because I had a 4-day weekend and only had 3 days of school)! Today was a pretty good day! It was a bit chilly and cloudy and I thought why not write a post about layering clothing items? This is such perfect weather, you guys have no idea how much this makes me happy!

Since I knew it was going to be really chilly in the morning and that the sun was going to peak out a little bit later in the day, I had to layer lightly... and heavily.. if that made any sense at all. (I'll explain in a bit).

Heather Gray Cardigan & Scarf || H&M
Dark Gray Cardigan || Gap
Black Dress & Shoes || Forever 21
Black High-Waisted Jeans || American Apparel

I created this look around the dark gray cardigan, which is embellished with unique patterns and mini pom poms. It's also heavy, therefore adding a bit of warmth (it's the kind where it wouldn't be too hot/cold to wear). Behind that, I chose to wear a heather gray cardigan that weighed much lighter than the outer layer (this will be the element that adds the warmness to the outfit for those chilly mornings). Also for adding warmth and some color into my outfit, I put on a thin muted pink scarf with printed florals and skulls. When it did get warmer, I took off the heather gray cardigan and unwrapped my scarf. Behind the cardigans, I have on a black baby-doll styled dress (which I accidentally shrunk, so now it'll act as a tunic) and I'm wearing my infamous black high-waisted jeans from American Apparel. As for shoes, I'm wearing a pair of copper-colored booties.

***With layering, you could basically just put any clothing items together that you think will look good combined, but it has to contrast each other in some slight way whether it be on matching colors/similar patterns/ different textures/etc. My favorite thing to do is pairing a thin, detailed cardigan with another (loose, but warm) cardigan. I like to leave a bit of the detailed cardigan hanging out of the looser cardigan to show off its details.

Well I hoped you liked this post! It's something new and I'm hoping to continue this series of "how to's ," so hopefully you guys do like this kind of post. I wish you guys a pleasant evening and a spectacular weekend! I might have another post up this weekend as well, so look out for that one! Love you guys and happy blogging!

top of the world

Hellooooooo beautiful people! Missed me? I'm sorry I've been gone a pretty long time here on and Instagram (just a little over a week, but still..) and I've basically just been doing school work on top of school work. The AP life is starting to get to me, hehe. (I took an APUSH test on Friday, and I'm feeling not so great about it... but it's done and over now so no use worrying, right?)

Anyways, I'm really excited to finally update since I have some free time. This weekend we got a 4-day weekend, which was very very much needed. I've actually got some time to actually breathe! So during my weekend, I've basically been doing yoga every day and having a Walking Dead marathon with my brother. I didn't get out of the house much except for today...

TODAY, my friend Pauline invited me to go on a shoot with her and my other friend Sofia (click *here* for Sofia's blog) at "the top of the world." In my hometown, there's this hill that we all call "the top of the world" because you could literally see the whole city from up there.

This was the view at around 5:30 pm today:

We basically just did a bit of a shoot for Pauline's photography project for school, and while we were up there we took a few shots of our outfits of the day! Here's what Pauline got of Sofia and I while we were up there:

Sweater & Flats || Forever 21
Floral Kimono & Gold-Chained Necklace || H&M
Black High-Waisted Pants || American Eagle

I hope you are all well and have enjoyed your weekend as much I did! I hope you lovely readers liked this post as well; you get more of an "inside-of-my-life" with this one because my friends are included, hehe. Anyways, happy Veterans Day and be grateful for the people who fight and defend for us on a daily basis. Thank you thank thank you veterans, and to my lovely readers, and happy blogging, loves!
