Also, I feel like I'm focusing more on making lookbook videos than actual blog posts and I don't know how I feel about that. To me, it doesn't feel genuine enough. I love making these videos-- the process of it all (the filming, the editing, etc.), but I love the fact that blog posts are more intimate and sincere. Just a thought. But if you guys do like these videos and want to keep them coming, just let me know! I would really appreciate it.

I love you all and I thank you for your support thus far! College is a whirlwind and is keeping my schedule hectic but I will somehow, someway to always find time to create.

I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead of you.
Happy blogging, loves! Xo, Vanessa.

Back to School Lookbook 2016

Hey guys! Here's my back to school lookbook. I know most of you started school about a month ago, but I've just started (so in my mind, it's not too late for this!). These are just a few ideas of what I would wear to school. I hope you enjoyed watching this video!

Also, what would you guys like to see on this channel? I will definitely be posting lifestyle/fashion videos, but please, feel free to leave a comment down below! Thank you--

(Pink +) White

Cardigan from Nordstrom Rack;
Shoes from Target;
Necklace from ASOS;
Bag from Korea;

Hello, loves! I hope all is well! I haven't started school yet, but I know that most of you out there have. I wish you all good luck and success this coming school year. All love, all around. I'll be doing a few back-to-school posts for you, so keep a look out for that!

Also, could we talk about Frank Ocean's new album, Blonde??? I've been listening to this one album on repeat, non-stop. As you can see, I was inspired to title this post Pink + White so that it'd go according to my outfit!

Anywhooo, on to my outfit! I did so much shopping from my travels in Asia, so I've just been having fun lately, incorporating those lovely pieces and how the locals styled them! The dress is very shift-like, very flowy. It's perfect for a hot, sunny day and it'll definitely keep me cool! The only down-side is that it's kind of see through. So I just wore a nude slip under it. Problem fixed!

I've noticed a big trend over there is to wear tote bags instead of actual purses. I purchased two different totes and have been using them often! They're just so easy to grab and go and definitely go with any casual outfits.

I've also noticed that it was a trend to wear regular t-shirts under a strappy dress or a strappy top. And that's what I've been wearing constantly now. It's effortless and cute-- and totally school appropriate (for those younger lads)! I'll definitely be doing a lookbook showing you how to do so!

I hope you liked this quick outfit post. I wish you all the best! Make new friends, go on more adventures. Live it up this new school year! Happy blogging-- Xo, Vanessa.

Hello, lovely bloggers! I hope you're doing well on this fine Tuesday evening. Finally! A travel vlog!! I'm introducing a new series on to my channel, a travel series... or rather a "traVLE vlog" series. I'll just be uploading my worldly journeys + mini lookbook of what I wear during my travels under this new category. I'm so excited to grow this collection of vlogs.

This travel vlog has been very long awaited and Korea will be up next. So, keep your eyes open for that :') I hope you guys liked this video! I had so much fun making it. It would mean a lot to me if you gave this video a "thumbs up" so I know I'm creating something good here. (A subscribe would be nice too :~)).

Oh, and I'll be uploading a few back-to-school videos soon as well!

Also, what would you guys like to see on this channel? I will definitely be posting lifestyle/fashion videos, but please, feel free to leave a comment down below! Thank you--

black on black on black

Shot by Cat Baugh of http://catmariephoto.com/

Hellooo, lovely bloggers! It's about time I come back from my hiatus :') I've been traveling for the last few weeks and have really just been getting settled back home. Was that "traveling" you just read? YES, I went on a mini tour (something I'd like to think of it as) to Asia!

I touched down in Japan and South Korea, and you will most definitely be seeing a lot of content about this trip very very soon. I took so many pictures and vlogging clips that there is literally no more space on my laptop (catch me at the local Costco today bc I need to buy an extra hard drive).  Anyways, expect to see individual TPD's to Japan and Korea, outfits I wore to barely survive the heat and humid over there, and vlogs! Also, on another note, I know I have been lagging extremely behind on my monthly vlogs. Those are coming within in the next week, I hope. I'm just trying to get my grind back on track, you know? It feels so good to finally be motivated and get all these creative juices flowing.

On a totally different note, I've also been getting ready for college. OooOOh, I have to learn how to "adult" now. I'm not moving that far away from home. Maybe 45 minutes away (without traffic). I'll be attending University of California, Irvine for Studio Arts in the fall. If you guys would like me to blog about outfits, what I'm bringing to the dorms, how to decorate dorms, etc. etc., just shoot me a comment! But, I would most likely be doing a back-to-school series (college edition) anyways!

Anyways about this outfit,
Black dress from Free People;
Belt from Urban Outfitters;
Black slip-ons from Nordstrom Rack (Dolce Vita);

This outfit is for one of those days when you just want to be quick and get out of the house but still be really cute and comfy. The Free People shift dress is actually pretty see through, so I wore my strappy dress from Brandy Melville underneath. Add a belt to give you some shape and slip on some easy shoes. Boom! You're ready to go.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my little update on what's been happening in my life lately for you. I hope you liked this outfit and I hope you are having a lovely Sunday filled with laughter and joy. I will talk to you very very soon! Happy blogging.
Xo, Vanessa.

Black maxi dress from Brandy Melville;
Denim jacket from Savers;
Statement necklace from  Forever 21;
Black slip-ons from Nordstrom Rack (Dolce Vita);

The dress from Brandy Melville is so versatile.You could totally dress down this outfit by switching out the necklace and the shoes for a bandana choker and a pair of sneakers.

If you don't know by now, (which you should-- you can get updates on me through my IG @allthingsvanessa!), I'm on vacation in Japan right now. In a couple of days, I'll be in South Korea. Of course, I'll be vlogging my very first trip out of the country. I'm not posting that much on Instagram right now though because it's kind of difficult to find wifi anywhere (+ I'm just using my time to really enjoy everything) . I'll post when I can!! But don't fret, I'm also taking some bomb pictures, those of which you'll see soon. So stay tuned for a future travel diary-- vlog edition!

P.S. I'm finishing up my Apr/May/June vlog. Late, I know. But better late than never, right?? Even if it's 3 months due, hahaha!

Anyways, I'll talk to you guys soon. Love you all and happy blogging!
Xo, Vanessa.

16 Things I Learned in High School // CLASS OF 2016

Four years in high school, and I think it’s safe to say that I’ve learned a pretty good amount in order to give you some advice on High School 101, to you up-and-coming high school students and others. On behalf of the Class of 2016, here, I present you 16 things I’ve learned during my four years in high school:
  1. It’s best to have a few best friends than hundreds of familiar friends. People change, and that’s okay. I've had my fair share of heartbreaks and learning it the hard way. Going into high school and coming out of high school, I can say I’m a totally different person now.
  2. Accepting that it’s totally okay to be confident in yourself and to love yourself for who you are and not what you are. People like you because you’re true to yourself. They don’t want to see the version of yourself where you would do and say anything to fit in.
  3. Going along with being okay to be confident and loving yourself, it’s also okay to stay in on Friday nights and have some “me” time. You’ll have more of that in the future anyways.
  4. Your parents and siblings are your biggest supporters and backbone in life. Friends come and go, but family is forever. I've also learned the hard way.
  5. Don’t succumb to peer pressure and do things you’re not comfortable with. Make decisions based on your own intentions. Do things because you want to do it yourself, not because there’s an outside factor coming into play with your decision.
  6. Going along with wanting to do things because YOU yourself want to, don’t be afraid to try new things! If you’ve never surfed before but want to, go and learn how to! This is also how you will meet new friends– maybe potential life-long friends as well.
  7. Try to find what you are most passionate about during high school, whether it be involving the photography class or the school’s debate team. You will most likely continue these passions post-high school. Not only will you be open to more and new opportunities, you will also grow as a person socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
  8. Don’t worry about what other people are thinking of you because they are most likely too busy thinking the same thing, worrying how other people are going to perceive them.
  9. Going into high school, you will not know who you are or who you want to be. You will figure it out someday. Don’t worry. I was in the same boat. Try new things and make new friends. Find your passions, and you will then figure it out.
  10. Pursue your dreams and passions without looking back. Keep going and going and going. Don’t listen to the people holding you back and saying that your dream isn’t practical. If you keep believing and pushing, you’ll soon see all your hard work paying off– and, boy is that the best feeling in the world.
  11. Cut out the negative people and influences in your life. Again, they are holding you back from being the best person you can be. Focus on what is important, not on what is a good “distraction.”
  12. If people are bothering you and saying rude comments about you, remember that you’re that much better than them. Remember that they are taking time out of THEIR day to put you down. Show them that you don’t care and what they say doesn’t affect you. You’re smart and strong and brave. Don’t let them succeed and make you forget your worth and value.
  13. Keep the people you love most close and spend as much time with them as you possibly can. Tell them you love them and appreciate them. These people will most definitely shape you into the person you become as a high school graduate. Even though sometimes you think you’re weak, you and your friends can only come out stronger in such hardships as long as you guys have each other. Although four years in high school sounds extremely long, it isn’t possibly enough to live in the moment with your best pals and gals. It goes by fast, so buckle in boys and girls and everything in between.
  14. Even though things in life at the moment may overcome you and make you feel weak, just know that it will eventually get better. It’s okay to have a moment to yourself and let it all out. It’s okay to let people in. You won’t be perceived as being weak but rather as being strong.
  15. Hold yourself accountable to your own mistakes. Take responsibility for the things you’ve done wrong and learn from them. These are the best life lessons. Sure, you messed up. People will forgive and forget. Apologize and make up for it.
  16. Don’t be a follower, but rather a leader. Set out to inspire and challenge others to reach their full potential. Be the person you want others to look up to, like a big brother or sister.
Heed these advices, pals and gals. I hope these advices are helpful. You're not alone in this. And if you do need some extra advice, feel free to come to me (click here for my questions page)! We're all learning from each other, and we'll keep on learning until the end of time. Not only can these advices apply to students of the like, but they are also applicable to people in the real world. And, that concludes High School 101.
Happy blogging, lovelies. I will see you next time! Xo, Vanessa.

Hello, lovely bloggers! I AM FINALLY BACK!  I could make a bunch of excuses and say that the time I took and went total AWOL on here was due to exams and wrapping up high school and getting ready for graduation and all that (which is all true), but to be real here, I was stuck in a rut. A creative rut. I don't know how I got in it, but I did. I thought it would only last a few weeks, but to my dismay it lasted a lot longer. I wasn't motivated enough to take the time and come up with creative content. At the same time, I didn't want to post just to post. I didn't want mediocre posts on this blog because it deserves better. I guess that's why I kept delaying on posting content.

 But have no fear, I am on the way to breaking this shelled case I'm in (I think). As summer break is here and college comes closer than ever, I know that there are many adventures on the way, those I wish to document on here or on YouTube. There are also collaborations in the works and new projects coming your way. So get ready, and buckle in pals and gals.

ANYWHO, a little update on me! As I've told you earlier in the post, I graduated high school! I'm going to be attending UCI in the fall for visual arts. My plan is to go for 2 years and then transfer to New York to pursue my passion in the fashion industry. During my last few weeks of high school, I did the impossible (or what I thought would never be plausible for me) and opened up bookings for prom pictures and senior pictures. I never thought that I would get to this point so soon in my life to do a freelancing job. The people who came to me and made it happen encouraged me to be a better artist for it. Not only did I learn so much from this experience, but it has also opened more opportunities for me in the future. So I'm very grateful that I got to partake in such a fun and enlightening experience towards the end of my high school career. I also spent all the free time that I had during that time with my friends and with the people who I know I won't be able to see often after high school. That was also partially the reason why I went AWOL (high key very glad I got to spend that time with them though). Anyways, that was the little update. I'll be posting up some pictures I've accumulated over the past weeks on my online photography portfolio so be on the lookout for that! You can go and check out what I already have on the website here: http://vlephoto.portfoliobox.net/

I am truly sorry for not giving you this kind of inspiration I always strive to provide for you during the time I was gone, but truth is I'm still trying to find some for myself as well. This is something we're going through together, and I wouldn't have it any other way. To those of you who have been patiently waiting for me, thank you so much. It means the world to me that you've stuck with me since the beginning. I love you all, new and old friends. And on that note, happy blogging. You will most definitely hear from me in the near future.

Happy blogging. Xo, Vanessa.

that one day in LA...

Hi, lovely bloggers! Sorry, I haven't posted much recently! I'm being swamped by schoolwork and the last 2 months of high school! Don't worry though. I have some really great content coming to you soon! Anyways, I finally got around to editing this set of pictures my friends and I took when we went to LA one day. This is just a compilation of all of work, so hope you enjoy this special post featuring my pals Gavin, Cat, and Justine.

That day was just full of adventures, pee stops, vegan bowls, window shopping, and boba. One of the most fun days I've had so far this year. Alas, here they are!

This too shall pass.

Whenever you reach a bump in the road, take some time for yourself. Do the things that you love for it will help you reconnect back to the world. Drink some tea, take a long bath. Do it for yourself and not for anybody else. Be with the people who love and support you because no matter what you decide to do, they'll always be behind your decision. Just know, this too shall pass.

If you didn't see my Instagram post [here] from 3 days ago, that's where the little "inspirational" advice came from. The story behind it is that I found out I got rejected to my 2 top universities I wanted to attend to for college. Not going to lie, I cried for 3 days straight. I felt like I was lost. I mean, I worked so hard throughout my whole high school career only to be rejected to my top schools. You know? I'm sure you've had that kind of feeling before.

I tried really hard throughout the past few days to stay positive, to tell myself that I just have to take a different path to get to where I want to be in the future. And I realized that this depressing feeling that I've stored inside me, just because of these rejection letters, are keeping me from realizing that it's not the end of the world. IT REALLY ISN'T. Everyone reaches these kinds of "bumps" in their lives, but it's that strong drive and will inside of them that helps them come out of the battle victorious.

After this little episode I had, I stopped all the worrying/stressing and took care of myself. I took some time to recollect and not let this kind of experience interfere with my daily life. I binge-watched some movies I wanted to watch for a while, I hung out with my brother (which always puts me in a good mood. I love him. He's my best friend. I die laughing whenever I'm with him.),  and I did a photo shoot with my friend, Sarah. Anything that would help me keep my mind busy, I did it. And it's safe to say that it worked.

Just because I got rejected by these schools doesn't mean I'm not worthy enough. It just means that I have an opportunity to strive at other places.

And through out this all, I would just like to say that I have literally the best supporters, friends and family. Without them, I wouldn't know where I would be (as cliché as that sounds). I really don't. They're the ones that help keep me striving for better/more. Surround yourselves with that kind of people-- the people who will be there for you no matter what, but will tell you things like it is. Be real with you. They'll keep pushing you and pushing you and won't let you settle for less. You'll get farther in life that way.

Anyways, I just wanted to rant a little bit and update you with what's going on in my life. I don't really do this often, but when I do... like wow (hahaha).What you should get out of this: this too shall pass. Bad times are only temporary. Soon you'll find genuine happiness again. Also, many don't take into account that people are going through different things in life, some more difficult than others. Just don't be a prick about it. Have some compassion.

This post is something different-- a lot more talkative than most. I hope you liked my advices and see my experience of a "bump in the road" as something relatable. Just know, you're not alone! If you need someone to talk to, my arms will always be open to you! Just drop by [here] and I will try to answer ASAP! I love you guys, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. Happy blogging. Xo, Vanessa.

How To: Day to Night outfit

Hello, lovely people! I hope you're all enjoying your Saturday so far! I've come to you with a "How To" post (which I haven't done in such a long time). How to go from a day outfit to a night outfit. When you have a full day planned and you don't have enough time to change into a totally different outfit, you just need to make-do and utilize the things you may have handy! A simple switch-a-roo with a few accessories, and you're set for your night plans.
And without further ado, here is your How To: Day to Night oufit!

Grey top from Target;
Black Cardigan from Brandy Melville;
High-waisted denim jeans from Topshop;
White slip-ons from Vans;
Watch from Daniel Wellington;
Black backpack from Forever 21;

I think what really characterizes this as a "day" outfit are the accessorizing details and clothing pieces: the sunglasses, the scarf, the hat, the cardigan, and the shoes. If it is a bit windy, the cardigan will keep you warm enough (but will also be light enough for you to carry around in your backpack when you don't need it). While the hat will keep the sun rays out of my sight and block the sun from burning my skin, my Vans slip-ons are perfect for those heavily planned days filled with activities (and walking)! Finish off your outfit with a light shade of matte lipstick. I'm wearing the Elf Matte Lip Color in Praline.

Shot by friend, Caleb.
Grey top from Target;
Black trench coat, statement necklace, black backpack from Forever 21;
High-waisted denim jeans from Topshop;
Black shoes from Zara;
Watch from Daniel Wellington;

A few changes such as switching out the slip-ons for a pair of dressier shoes, switching the scarf for a statement necklace, and switching the comfortably cardigan to a sleek trench coat will automatically change your outfit from day to night. This outfit is perfect for those dinner dates with the girlfriends or even a movie date with the beau. Also, applying a darker shade of lipstick will help transform your outfit. For this outfit, I'm wearing Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in N9 Copper Pink.

I hope you guys liked this "How To" post! Let me know if you want to see any other "How To's!" I love making these kind of posts, so I have others planned as well. I hope you all have the best rest of the weekend, and I shall talk to you soon! Happy blogging!
Xo, Vanessa.
